We have a passion for working with historic buildings, which often bring a character and value to a project which would be otherwise unachievable when building from scratch. There is a certain quality about an oak framed truss, telling a story of hundreds of years of existence, or a hidden fireplace which is waiting to reveal itself, which simply cannot be recreated from new. These historic features can often be balanced well with contemporary materials showing the layers of history within a space.
How do we design for a listed building?
Working with listed buildings brings about certain challenges and responsibilities, and people sometimes don’t know what they are allowed to do or where to start. We are committed to guiding the client through this sometimes complicated process. We have a proven track record of successful listed building applications where designs have been handled sensitively to the historic context and local surroundings.
